People often ask how AI is affecting our business.
In truth, it has proved a huge asset in so many areas, including research, analysis, planning, content generation, code checking, to name but a few. We will explore each of these in future posts.
But this week, it has taken a new step, in that AI has become a funnel of website work.
Can You Host My Claude Website
We were contacted by Crossway Foods last week; their director had used Claude to mock-up a single page website design that he liked. He asked BY Design to convert it into a fully functioning website, and to host it moving forwards.
The work included:
- Changing the header from static to mobile friendly.
- Creation of a logo file and favicon, extracted from the Claude design.
- Creation of a responsive menu.
- Adjustment to the navigation links and page anchoring, so they work cross-site.
- Creation of a responsive footer.
- Replacing the contact form mock-up with an actual working form, and implementing Re-CAPTCHA for security purposes.
- Configuration of back-end security on the website.
- Setup of secure user access so they can edit the site via a CMS.
- Inclusion of a standard privacy policy.
- SEO work behind the scenes, including Google Search Console and Analytics connection.
In the past, customers have often had quite specific designs in mind for us to work with, some even providing flat graphics showing the desktop layout, but this project is the first time someone has provided AI coded HTML as a starting point.
Whilst anyone can spin up a design or some HTML using any of the major AI tools, that in itself doesn’t give you a fully functioning, hosted and Google-indexed website. There is still a need for professional support to get it over the line.
