A successful website project isn’t just about the website.

After more than two decades doing this, I’ve learned that the site itself is only one part of the job.

The real value often sits in the support around it.

It’s the early conversations where we work out what the business actually needs, not just what pages it wants.

It’s helping a client organise their content, sharpen their message, understand what their customers are looking for, and make sensible decisions rather than expensive ones.

It’s making sure redirects are handled properly, email forms are tested, images are optimised, analytics are in place, and nothing important is lost when the new site goes live.

It’s also being there afterwards.

For tweaks. For questions. For the inevitable “Can we just change this?” once real people start using the site.

Web designers sometimes get painted as people who overcomplicate things or charge for every tiny request. But in my experience, most website designers are honest and want the best for their clients. They care about doing a good job and seeing the project work in the real world.

At BY Design, that support is a big part of how we work.

We turn things around faster than the bigger agencies, and never have to be asked twice. If something needs doing, we get on with it.

Because a website project shouldn’t feel like a handover and goodbye.

It should feel like you’ve got someone on your side who understands the technical bits, the business goals, and the importance of keeping momentum going.

The website matters.

But the support around it is often what makes it successful.
