Welcome to Public Libraries News, who moved their website hosting to BY Design last week.
As part of the move, we carried out some essential repairs and upgrades to their website.
The site was running on PHP 7, which is outdated now and insecure, so the first task was to clean up the code so it can run on PHP 8. This was preventing them from being able to update other plugins to the latest versions.
We also carried out updates to the WP core and plugins, and did a full health check on the website to make sure it is clean and operating efficiently.
The final task was to fix the subscription system, so that people can sign up and be notified when new articles are published, and also have the ability to easily unsubscribe.
This further expands our work in the UK Library sector, as we already work with and host both The Library Campaign, and the UK’s foremost supplier of digital content and library services, DCA.
