Business owner Michelle contacted BY Design for some help updating her website following a move to Powys, Mid Wales. Her website was previously optimised for searches relating to Oswestry, Shropshire, and she was receiving good levels of traffic and bookings through the website.
She was concerned about losing business due to the move, so we held a virtual meeting, went through the website with her to develop an action plan, and then went away and implemented it.
- On-page content edits for location-specific content.
- Off-page meta content changes for the location changes.
- New images of Michelle and the new location, with corresponding alt tags relating to the new location.
- Changes to page URLs and creation of redirects to mitigate 404 errors.
- Submission of sitemaps (page and post) to Google for reindexing.
- Guidance on changes to the Google Business listing, which Michelle self-manages.
Over the coming weeks, we will monitor the impact of the changes, and adjust as required, to ensure that Michelle is appearing in search queries and picking up business in her new location.
