Your website should not require you to be at work in order to keep business moving; it should still be answering questions, taking enquiries, processing bookings, filtering leads, and giving customers the confidence to act.

That only happens if the right foundations are in place before you go.

A good holiday checklist for your website is simple:

  1. Clear service pages – so visitors can understand what you do without needing to call for basic information.
  2. Strong contact routes – enquiry forms, email links, click-to-call buttons, and maps all working properly.
  3. Automated confirmations – so people know their enquiry has been received and what happens next.
  4. Booking or payment systems – where relevant, so sales do not stop because you are away.
  5. Fast, mobile-friendly pages – because most people will not wait for a slow site to load.
  6. Updated security and backups – so you are not returning to avoidable problems.
  7. Analytics and tracking – so you can see what happened while you were off.

The aim is not to remove the human element. It is to make sure your website handles the first stage properly, so you return to useful enquiries rather than missed opportunities.

A well-built website should keep working quietly in the background. Even when you are not!
