A new customer contacted BY Design following a recommendation. She reported that her WordPress website had been hacked, and that certain clicks were taking customers to offensive material.

We obtained access to the website and carried out the following work:

  1. Completed a full security audit.
  2. Cloned the website into a test environment.
  3. Fixed all of the issues.
  4. Completed a full scan of the site to verify that all problems had gone away.
  5. Carried out user-experience testing to ensure the site worked correctly.
  6. Scanned the additional files on the customer’s hosting account.
  7. Deleted all of the rogue files that were identified during the scan.
  8. Restored the repaired website to the customer’s hosting account.
  9. Provided a handover explanation and assurance that the problem is fixed.

Regular security and maintenance checks are essential for all websites, and particularly for WordPress. It is something we provide as standard with all of our hosting packages.
